Mastery Readiness

Outline:

The programme, led by a Mastery Readiness Lead, Claire Martin, began in summer 2018 and runs to Easter 2019. 6 schools from Halton were selected to be involved in Wave 1 of the programme.

The maths lead and another teacher will attend training events throughout the year, averaging out at two per term. There will be two visits per term from the Mastery Readiness Lead to offer tailored advice and support. 
Benefits
• The training includes an introduction to mastery, how to prepare a school to be ready to implement teaching for mastery, initial steps, both in leadership and in classroom teaching, and strategies to overcome potential barriers.
• Support for the head teacher in addressing leadership issues related to mathematics and contributing to raising standards.
• Opportunity to work closely with other schools also developing mastery readiness.

Participants:

Wave 2 of the programme started in the latter part of the autumn term focusing on Wirral schools - Mendell, Bedford Drive, Fender, Holy Cross, Grove Street, Leasowe and St Werburgh's primary schools will take part. 
Wave 3 will begin in the spring term focusing on Knowsley schools - Park View Academy, Park Brow, St Marks, St Columba's, Cronton CE, St Michael and All Angels and Yew Tree primary schools will take part. 
The next phase of this programme will target schools in Liverpool and Cheshire areas.
